Dinamo – Zagreb 2-4
Zagreb striker Zlatko Dračić scored a hat-trick to delight Zagreb's supporters and lead his team to victory in the city derby at Maksimir Stadium. The "Poets" managed by Gustav Lechner, a former player and coach of the blues, eventually won 4-2, with Dračić's three goals further separating him at the top of the league's leading scorer table.
After this match, with two rounds remaining in the competition, he had scored 23 goals, seven more than his nearest rival, Tonči Gulin from Rijeka. With this victory, Zagreb also separated from Dinamo in the league table, the "Poets" were now sixth with two points more than the Maksimir team. Zagreb took the lead through Dračić's goal in the 22nd minute, Željko Matuš equalised in the 45th minute, and Dračić scored again at the start of the second half to restore Zagreb's lead. When he added his third goal in the 57th minute, followed by Tomislav Kralj's strike in the 68th minute for 1-4, the match was practically decided. Dražan Jerković managed only to reduce the deficit for the blues in the 72nd minute.
Dinamo finished the season in eighth place, Zagreb in sixth with three points more, while the title went to Partizan. The order in the leading scorer table didn't change in the final two rounds, even the tally remained the same: Dračić first with 23, Gulin second with 16 goals.
