Dinamo – Hajduk 3-3 (Cup final, first match)
In a spectacular Cup final match at Belgrade's JNA Stadium, Dinamo and Hajduk played out a 3-3 draw over 120 minutes on the pitch. According to the rules at the time, the winner was not determined by penalties, but rather a new match was scheduled at the same venue.
They met again two and a half weeks later, on 19 June, in a match where Dinamo triumphed with a convincing 3-0 victory. In this first encounter, Hajduk took the lead in the 16th minute when Ivica Hlevnjak delivered a cross from the right side, and Ivan Pavlica ran onto it and deflected the ball into the net. Seven minutes later, Krasnodar Rora crossed from the wing, Josip Gutzmirtl shot, the ball caught Vinko Cuzzi on its way and ended up in the goal. In the 71st minute, Rudolf Belin delivered from a free kick, and Slaven Zambata headed the ball to put the Blues in front. Three minutes later, Miroslav Boškovic collected a rebounded ball and fired it into the net for 2-2. This score remained at the end of 90 minutes, meaning the match went into extra time.
First, Gutzmirtl hit Hajduk's crossbar in the 99th minute, only for a goal to appear practically in the next attack at the other end. Ivan Buljan crossed in front of goal, goalkeeper Fahrija Dautbegovic punched clear, Miroslav Vardic shot, the ball deflected off Mladen Ramljak on its way and deceived the goalkeeper. In the 110th minute, Dautbegovic saved a great chance from Hlevnjak, immediately launched a counter-attack led by Belin, who played in Zambata, he shot from the right side, the ball hit defender Dragan Holcer and, similar to Hajduk's previous goal, deceived the goalkeeper. A minute before the end, Dinamo were on the verge of the trophy when, following a cross from Marijan Novak from the right side, Zambata headed the ball alone from five metres out, but goalkeeper Ante Sirkovic made a save to push the ball away.
