Milan – Dinamo 1-2

In a football exhibition at San Siro, in Dinamo's great 2-1 victory in a friendly match against the famous Milan, we will remember two spectacular moments from the second half, two miniatures for football romantics: the Argentine in Milan's shirt, Claudio Borghi, executed a corner kick with a "rabona", while Dražen Ladić saved a penalty from the famous Ruud Gullit. Zvonimir Boban also played for Dinamo in that match, later to become a famous Milan star and, of course, the current president of the Maksimir club. The move of the match, alongside three goals and a saved penalty, was Borghi's "rabona", a right-footed strike behind the left leg: he brilliantly took the corner on the southeast side of the pitch by fixing his left standing leg to the right side of the ball, then with a full swing of his right foot curved it into the penalty area. In that same second half, in the very finale, Ladić became the hero. Not only did he save a penalty from the celebrated Ruud Gullit, at that moment one of the world's best footballers, but he thereby prevented the hosts from taking the lead, and that five minutes before the end of the match... With that save he also opened the path to Dinamo's victory which followed just three minutes later. Milan shook Dinamo's net in the 41st minute after an attack initiated by Gullit on the right side, who played in Mauro Tassotti who crossed into the middle, and Pietro Paolo Virdis headed home from about ten metres for the lead. Vlado Kasalo equalised in similar fashion in the 58th minute when, after Stjepan Deverić's corner kick, he headed the ball from five metres off the crossbar into the net. The Blues secured victory in a dramatic finish, in the 88th minute through Mladen Munjaković's goal. It came just three minutes after Ladić, diving to his bottom right corner, stopped Gullit's penalty. Munjaković stole the ball from Milan defender Stefano Nava, who had come on from the bench less than a minute earlier, rushed into a counter-attack down the right side and slammed the ball into the net. Interestingly, the Italian newspaper La Stampa later wrote that Bologna referee Mauro Felicani awarded Milan a penalty in the 85th minute even though Damir Lesjak's challenge on Claudio Balesini was completely fair.
