BSK Belgrade – Građanski 0-1 (the path to the title)
The victory in Belgrade marked a return to the title race through the front door. Građanski defeated their great rival BSK 1-0 away from home, which meant that with three rounds remaining, they became a serious title contender. The Zagreb side got their revenge against BSK for the defeat at home at the very start of the competition when the Belgrade team won 3-2.
Left-winger Florijan Conjo Matekalo got his "revenge" for the Zagreb team, grabbing the ball 20 meters from goal in the 61st minute and hitting the bottom corner with a powerful strike. BSK were better in the first half, Građanski in the second. With three rounds remaining, Slavija from Sarajevo topped the table with 12 points, followed by Građanski with 10 and BSK with 9 points... The big clash between Slavija and Građanski in Sarajevo was already scheduled for the next round.
Moreover, the Zagreb players didn't even return home from Belgrade but continued straight to Sarajevo where they celebrated a 3-2 victory and ultimately secured the title at the end of the season. The victory against BSK carries additional weight as the Zagreb side had to do without injured goalkeeper Franjo Glaser and striker Franjo Mara Wölfl.
