HAŠK – Građanski 1-2 (path to the title)

The Purgers continued their march towards the championship title. In the penultimate round, they defeated city rivals HAŠK 2-1 at the Koturaška ground, extending their winning streak to six consecutive victories. One round before the end, Građanski had a one-point advantage over second-placed BSK from Belgrade and a two-point lead over Slavija from Sarajevo.

The Purgers were also successful in the final round, beating Belgrade's Jugoslavija away 2-1 to claim the title. It was a season in which Građanski was actually a "double champion": after winning first place in the Croatian-Slovenian League, which was a qualifying group for the national championship, the Purgers also claimed the title of best team in all of Yugoslavia. In the match against HAŠK, the Purgers took the lead through August Lešnik in the third minute following a cross from Zvonimir Cimermančić, while Ico Hitrec equalised in the 48th minute with a relatively easy close-range strike. With the score at 1-1, Hungarian referee Ferenc Palasti sent off HAŠK's right winger Zvonimir Koceić. Victory for Građanski was secured by Milan Antolković with a goal from a scramble nine minutes before the end.
