Maksimir Stadium hosted Ponziana from Trieste in the penultimate round of the championship, with Dinamo securing a 5-2 victory. Paradoxically, the blues practically immediately after the final whistle embarked on a tour to France where three matches awaited them, with Olympique Marseille being their first opponent.

Despite the convincing victory against Ponziana, Dinamo was "out of reach" of first place. The blues finished second, five points behind leaders Partizan, and this gap remained after the final round. In the match played at Koturaska, the scorers for the blues were Božo Senčar, Franjo Mara Wölfl from the penalty spot, Zvonimir Cimermanćić twice, and Željko Čajkovski once. The visitors found the net twice: first Radames Tommasini equalised to make it 1-1, before Bruno Carlin later reduced the deficit to 3-2.
