Dinamo – Crvena zvezda 5-1 (path to the title)
A convincing victory against Crvena zvezda in Zagreb, followed immediately by celebration against Hajduk in Split... This was Dinamo's spring, and the sequence of victories that catapulted the blues towards the title was identical to the unforgettable year of 1982. However, this time we're talking about the spring of 1948. The blues outplayed Crvena zvezda 5-1 and thus moved even closer to the trophy. In the continuation of the competition, the Zagreb club secured their seventh championship title, the first in the era of post-war Yugoslavia. During those days, the main media topic was the escape of two Dinamo goalkeepers: Zvonimir Monsider and Josip Babić had, ten days earlier, after the victory against Ponziana in Trieste, remained in Italy. Monsider ultimately stayed in emigration permanently, while Babić soon returned and played for Dinamo again. As the club was left without both goalkeepers overnight, it was a big question who would defend in the derby. It had already been practically decided that defender Drago Horvat would stand between the goalposts, as he had previously stepped into the goalkeeper role when circumstances demanded. However, the Federation exceptionally allowed Dinamo to sign a goalkeeper outside the transfer window, so Slavko Arneri came from city rivals Lokomotiva, making his debut precisely against Zvezda. The net was breached in the 4th minute by Franjo Mara Wölfl from the penalty spot after Momčilo Šapinac brought down Ratko Kacian. The blues increased their lead in the 17th minute when the ball, after an impressive move by Zvonimir Cimermančić and Kacian, rolled to Wölfl who launched it into the corner from about ten meters. The third Dinamo goal, this time in the 69th minute, also came from an attractive move finished by Wölfl. Slobodan Miškov in the 76th minute ran alone in front of Arneri and scored for 3-1. This was Zvezda's only shot on goal in the second half. Aleksandar Benko in the 82nd minute powerfully struck diagonally for the blues' fourth goal. Cimermančić shook the net in the 87th minute, but the referees indicated offside. However, two minutes later, Cimermančić, persistent in his intention for Dinamo to score a fifth goal, managed to rip the net for 5-1. After the victory against the Belgrade side, the blues had 21 points at the top of the table, two more than Hajduk, whom they outplayed four days later in Split. Third was Partizan with 16 points, followed by Crvena zvezda with 13 points and one game in hand...
