Velež – Dinamo 2-3

The Blues defeated Velež in Mostar 3-2, which meant that, one round before the end, they were still candidates for the championship title. After the victory against Velež, Dinamo were second, one point behind Red Star Belgrade, who in the same round defeated Belgrade's Radnički 5-4 in a 'crazy' match.

Already in the first minute, Sulejman Rebac surprised Dinamo goalkeeper Gordan Irvić who had rushed out. The Blues quickly turned the match around with two goals in the space of just one minute: Luka Lipošinović 'brought them back into the game' by precisely chipping the home keeper in the 28th minute, before Dražan Jerković immediately scored from a scramble to give Zagreb the lead. It was Jerković who scored Dinamo's third goal in the 72nd minute, while Milorad Lazović reduced the deficit to 3-2 with a powerful strike in the 75th minute.

In the final round, both Dinamo and Red Star saw off their opponents with five goals: Zagreb defeated Rijeka at Maksimir 5-1, while Belgrade celebrated with the same scoreline against Sloboda in Tuzla. This meant that Dinamo finished as runners-up, one point behind Red Star.
