Dinamo – Spartak Hradec Kralove 2-1 (Mitropa Cup, final round)

With a victory in the final round, Dinamo secured first place in the group and a spot in the semifinals of the Central European Mitropa Cup. The Zagreb footballers defeated Czechoslovakian representatives Spartak Hradec Kralove 2-1 in their last group match, which meant they finished the first round at the top of the group stage.

The competition was divided into four groups, with only the group winners advancing to the semifinals. The match against Spartak was played almost at the limit of playability - heavy rain soaked the entire pitch to such an extent that it was barely possible to play, and due to the storm, the start of the second half was delayed by 20 minutes.

Slaven Zambata found the back of the visitors' net in the 10th minute after being set up by Ivica Cvitković from the right wing. Rudolf Tauchen equalized in the 81st minute from a counter-attack, before Ilijas Pašić won a penalty two minutes later which Rudolf Belin converted for Dinamo's victory.

A curious detail is that on this occasion Spartak played in blue, while hosts Dinamo wore their reserve yellow-black striped jerseys. The Zagreb side, under coach Milan Antolković, won the group with eight points, the same as Spartak. Juventus finished third with seven points, while Ferencvaros came last with one point. The Blues were then stopped by Bologna in the semifinals.
