Građanski – Hajduk 2-1

The blues and whites clashed at Concordia's ground in today's Kranjčevićeva Street, in a league match in the early stages of the competition. It was the first part of the season, a qualifying group for the national championship finale.

In an entertaining encounter, Građanski ultimately triumphed 2-1 with a comeback in the second half. The visitors took the lead in the 30th minute when Vladimir Kragić scored from around 40 metres out. The Zagreb side immediately launched a fierce hunt for an equalizer and comeback, which they signalled at the start of the second half.

The hero of the match's continuation was two-goal scorer Zvonimir Stanković. In the 51st minute, Hajduk's goalkeeper Bartul Čulić rushed out into no man's land, and in the scramble Stanković found the net from close range for the equalizer. The right winger Stanković found his way to goal again in the 62nd minute. He struck powerfully from the right and found the target precisely to give the blues the lead and victory.

Građanski was managed in those days by Austrian strategist Robert Haftl, while Luka Kaliterna was at the helm of the whites, watching the match from behind the goal.
