It was six Maksimir goals to bid farewell to the season. Dinamo defeated Rijeka 6-0 in the final match of the competition. The match was "sealed" by Željko Matuš with two goals, who in the 32nd and 42nd minutes tore through Rijeka's net with precise long-range strikes.

Nedeljko Dugandžija in the 53rd minute capitalized on a Rijeka defensive error and increased the lead to 3-0, before Matuš soon after in the 72nd minute signaled a complete rout of the visitors with his new goal. Vladimir Čonč shook off the opposing defender and skillfully placed the ball into the goal in the 80th minute, before Vlatko Marković concluded the story with a goal two minutes later. For the Blues, this was only enough for a final fifth place finish, nine points behind champions Red Star Belgrade. Dinamo was defending the championship title they had won the previous year in that season.
