Dinamo – Olympiacos 4-0 (Intertoto Cup)
This was the only season the Blues participated in the then Intertoto Cup. Greek side Olympiacos visited Zagreb for the first round group stage match. The inspired Maksimir side was already leading 3-0 after just 25 minutes.
Zdravko Rauš opened the scoring in the 14th minute, before Pavlos Vassiliou deflected the ball into his own net five minutes later. Stjepan Lamza made it 3-0 in the 25th minute. The Blues then played at a somewhat calmer pace and managed to find the net just once more before the final whistle. Rauš was again the scorer, this time in the 81st minute.
Interestingly, after two of the scheduled six rounds, Olympiacos withdrew from the competition, and Panionios stepped in to replace them, taking over (!) the previous statistics of the Piraeus team. The group winner was Malmö with 10 points, three more than Toulouse and five more than third-placed Dinamo. Olympiacos in two matches and Panionios in four matches combined earned a total of two points.
