Dinamo – Velež 2-0 (final round)
With the defeat against Rijeka at Kantrida in the penultimate round, the Maksimir footballers lost their chances of winning the double crown. Red Star Belgrade ended up as champions with three points more than runners-up Dinamo, who had to settle for the Cup winners' trophy. The Blues defeated Velež from Mostar 2-0 at home in the final round on July 6th.
Antun Crnić was the double goalscorer. He entered the game at the start of the second half replacing Damir Valec, and found the net as early as the 47th minute following a cross from Drago Vabec. In similar fashion, with a clever reaction and close-range shot, he scored his second goal in the 77th minute. Velež's goal was guarded by former Dinamo goalkeeper Slobodan Mrgan, while the defensive line was marshalled by another former Blues defender, Nikola Benco. The match at Maksimir was watched by only 2,000 spectators.
