Croatia – München 2-1 (friendly, Prosinečki's first appearance after his return)
As many as 25,000 spectators attended this friendly match. The opponent wasn't such a big draw... The fans wanted to witness the great return, they wanted to be part of one of the biggest transfers in their club's history: Robert Prosinečki was back!
Just two days after signing a contract with the Maksimir club, the popular "fiery one" appeared once again at his stadium in his blue jersey. He presented himself to the crowd in a match against Bundesliga side München 1860. At that moment, 10 years and three months had passed since his previous appearance for Dinamo when he came off the bench in a league match against Sloboda from Tuzla, which ended 0-0. The Maksimir faithful enthusiastically welcomed back the football charismatic, applauding his every move, every play... A special roar from the stands erupted when he made a sliding tackle. Reporters counted that in those 45 minutes he spent on the pitch, he made four sliding tackles. He even scored a goal: converting from the penalty spot in the 12th minute.
The Germans, however, equalized as early as the 15th minute when Bernhard Winkler found the net. The victory for the blues was secured by Igor Cvitanović with a goal in the 79th minute for a final score of 2-1. Interestingly, the blues had played against the "Sechziger" half a year earlier, but away from home. The result was identical: a 2-1 victory for the Zagreb side. Prosinečki played only the first half in this match, earning ovations from the stands, while he spent the remaining 45 minutes watching the game leaning against the advertising boards behind the south goal...
