British Columbia – Dinamo 5-4 (tour, USA and Canada)

An uncertain match with as many as nine goals. In a football spectacle in Vancouver, the hosts celebrated with a 5-4 victory. This was the fourth appearance of the Blues on their historic tour of the United States and Canada. The opponent was the representative team of the Canadian province of British Columbia, though they were mostly Canadian national team players.

Dinamo was somewhat groggy after the tough encounter against the Greek national team in Toronto. The brawling incidents, match interruption and aftermath following the match against the Greeks had left their mark.

Additionally, the match was played on artificial turf in the rain, and the Maksimir footballers weren't accustomed to this - they didn't adapt well to the wet and slippery surface. British Columbia eventually won 5-4. Dinamo played with a reserve lineup in the first half.

Interestingly, even the pitch gradient was somewhat unusual. The playing field was elevated, and this was done intentionally for easier water drainage... However, the center of the pitch was about 30 centimeters above the level of the touchline.

The hosts took the lead as early as the 1st minute, Josip Ražić equalized in the 18th, and British Columbia's new lead came in the 22nd. Right at the start of the second half, Alojz Renić rushed towards the goalkeeper when he dropped the ball in front of himself... Renić simply pushed it into the net while the goalkeeper watched in amazement. However, the goal was legitimate.

The hosts took a 4-2 lead with goals in the 49th and 72nd minutes, while Krasnodar Rora reduced the deficit in the 75th. A new equalizer, 4-4, came after Marijan Čerček delivered a cross and Josip Gutzmirtl charged forward to slam it into the net. Five minutes before the end, goalkeeper Fahrija Dautbegović and Drago Vabec were casually playing around in front of their own goal when home striker McClay rushed in and scored the winner.
