Građanski – Ilirija Ljubljana 3-1 (rolling the pitch at Tuškanac before the Easter match)

The officials of the Zagreb club organized the first gathering of players in May 1911, shortly after the club's founding, and the location of this historic event was at – Tuškanac. The playing field was located on the site of today's Jabukovac Elementary School, where GNK Dinamo installed a memorial plaque to mark the 110th anniversary. It was at this place that the first gathering was held, where they first kicked the ball and put on their jerseys. However, there is one special curiosity related to the players and the pitch at Tuškanac, a detail that reveals the strength, dedication and spirit of the club in its very beginnings. One distant spring Sunday, April 12, 1914, on Easter Sunday itself, a match was played there against Ilirija from Ljubljana, the club from which the later Olimpija emerged. However, due to heavy rain and numerous matches played in the previous days, the pitch was soft, muddy and almost impossible to play on. The only solution was to level the playing field. At the very beginning of Tuškanac, in the lowland near the former shooting range, today's Tuškanac Cinema, there was a large iron roller that was used for leveling the city streets of that time, which were paved with stone and gravel. The match was supposed to start at 3 PM, and the Board and players had already met at 7 AM in the lower part of Tuškanac and together, with tremendous effort, spent a full four hours pushing the heavy roller uphill to the playing field. They pulled it along the main road that turns at the beginning of Dubravkin put further in the direction of Cmrok. Every 10 meters they would properly prop it up and stop it so it wouldn't roll back downhill. It was a feat that many admired. After this difficult ordeal came another achievement: not only did they overcome fatigue, but they also sent their opponents off the pitch with three goals in the net. This was the second mutual match between Građanski and Ilirija; they played their premiere encounter in June 1913 in Ljubljana, where the Zagreb team celebrated with a 3-2 victory, with Ivan Granitz scoring a hat-trick.
