Dinamo – Osijek 5-2 (100th encounter between the clubs in HNL)

It was a "round" milestone, the 100th encounter between Dinamo and Osijek in the independent Croatian league, and equally a "round" 200th official appearance for Mislav Oršić in the shirt of the Maksimir club... Both anniversaries were marked with no fewer than seven goals and Dinamo's 5-2 victory.

It was also an "overture" to the match against Norwegian Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League play-off second leg after the Scandinavians had won the first leg 1-0 on their home ground. Dinamo then triumphed in the return leg 4-1 in extra time with Bruno Petković's unforgettable bicycle kick and qualified for the elite European club competition.

Fans from the north stand accompanied Oršić's 200th official appearance with chanting and a banner quoting the player's old emotional statement: "There is no greater club than Dinamo".

And so it was Oršić himself who ceremonially opened the match, scoring as early as the 3rd minute. Luka Ivanušec intercepted the ball on the right side in Osijek's half, skillfully cut inside, the ball deflected off a visiting defender before Oršić reached it and sent it towards goal with his knee. The goalkeeper managed to save it, but only back to Oršić who slammed it into the net.

About ten minutes later Osijek came close to equalizing when Laszlo Kleinheisler struck powerfully from 20 metres and rattled the far post. The visitors did manage to equalize in the 28th minute when Mato Miloš crossed from the right and Dion Drena Beljo was highest in the jump to find the net. In the 53rd minute, Josip Drmić played through Petković who skillfully turned with a neat touch outside the penalty area and passed right to Sadegh Moharrami. The Maksimir right-back cut inside, Petković followed the move, sneaked in front of goal and headed home at the far post.

Dinamo's third goal arrived in the 66th minute. Oršić extended the ball on the left side to Petar Bočkaj, who crossed in front of goal where Dino Perić "emerged" and headed home for 3-1.

Osijek "got back into the game" in the 74th minute when Miloš played through Kleinheisler from the right, and he struck powerfully from 20 metres. Mišić slid in and touched the ball which suddenly changed direction and deceived goalkeeper Dominik Livaković, looping high into the net. However, eight minutes later the blues again escaped to a two-goal advantage. Bočkaj cut in from the left, and at the edge of the six-yard box Perić appeared again - the Osijek-born player, former cadet and junior of the white-blues - and shook the net for Dinamo's 4-2 lead.

The story was concluded in the 3rd minute of stoppage time by Dario Špikić who raced down the right wing, and when he ran into the penalty area, he tried to cross, but defender Mario Jurčević slid into the block and deflected into his own net.
