Maksimir Stadium erupted, football Zagreb was on fire in a magnificent and thrilling match, with Bruno Petković's historic bicycle kick, one of the most beautiful goals in the history of Dinamo's European campaigns... Dinamo have qualified for the Champions League group stage for the eighth time.

In the Champions League play-off second leg, the Maksimir footballers defeated Bodø/Glimt 4-1 after extra time in Zagreb, following the Norwegians' 1-0 victory in the first leg. The Zagreb side led 2-0 at half-time, the Scandinavians managed to score and take the match to extra time, but could go no further.

Coach Ante Čačić entered club history that evening: he became the second coach to lead Dinamo to the Champions League group stage twice. He achieved this in 2012 and 2022. Previously, this was accomplished by the never-forgotten Zlatko Cico Kranjčar who took the Blues to the group stage in 1998 and 2016.

Three minutes before the end of extra time, when "penalties were already in the air", Josip Drmić set up Mahir Emreli on the right flank in a counter-attack, whose shot was briefly deflected by the goalkeeper. However, Drmić retrieved the ball again and with skillful dribbling created a shooting position, firing into the net from 17 metres. In the final seconds, it was Drmić again who initiated another counter-attack, the goalkeeper was more successful in the one-on-one situation, but the ball rebounded to the left where Petar Bočkaj was positioned and he sent it into the empty net.

But the special "frozen moment in time" came in the 35th minute. Petković scored a spectacular, impressive, masterful bicycle kick to shake the Norwegians' net for 2-0. And it's hard to assess what was more beautiful about this move: receiving the ball, skillfully maintaining balance, "Samson-like" strength in the battle for space between two centre-backs, the masterful jump, or the precise geometry with which he "positioned his body in the jump" and with a delicate trajectory fired the ball over his head into the corner, past the goalkeeper's standing leg. He did all this following a precise cross from Stefan Ristovski...

The net was also found by the equally inspired and creative Mislav Oršić, as early as the 4th minute. Martin Baturina sent the ball left to Oršić in a semi-counter-attack, he skillfully ran into the penalty area, broke through a "sandwich" of two defenders and from four metres fired with his left foot into the near corner for the lead and a return to overall parity.

Only millimetres separated the Blues from a second goal in the 32nd minute. After a long attack, Dario Špikić sent a ground ball from the heart of the opponent's penalty area, and Arijan Ademi powerfully struck the crossbar from 18 metres.

But three minutes later the ball flew under the crossbar with Petković's magnificent bicycle kick...

The Maksimir euphoria was calmed by Albert Grønbaek just seven minutes after he came off the bench. It was in the 70th minute, at a time when the Norwegians were openly chasing an equaliser, creating chances and eventually breaking through Dinamo's defensive wall. Grønbaek skillfully received the ball in front of the penalty area and with clever dribbling while running created a shooting position, placed it in the net and thus "turned back the clock" again. The match was once again level on aggregate.

In the 65th minute the Norwegians threatened, Marius Høibråten, after a corner kick, headed from the edge of the six-yard box into the very corner, but Robert Ljubičić was standing on the goal line and cleared the ball. It was a period of pressure with which Bodø/Glimt desperately sought and then found the goal that temporarily brought them back into the game.
