Dinamo – Crvena zvezda 3-0
The championship was just at the beginning, it was the 2nd round match, and immediately a derby. Dinamo defeated Crvena zvezda with a convincing 3-0 performance, and the crowd's applause went to the returnee after injury, Dražan Jerković.
However, the visitors ran into squad problems right from the start. Zvezda's best player, Dragoslav Šekularac, felt pain in his muscle already in the first minute. He wasn't even involved in any duel at the time. After receiving medical attention, he briefly returned to the pitch, but soon after decided to abandon the game and left the match.
Dinamo took the lead in those moments, when Zvezda was playing with ten men. Stjepan Lamza combined with Željko Perušić who skillfully delivered into the penalty area, Jerković effectively controlled with his chest and then, after the ball bounced off the ground, powerfully fired into the net for the blues' lead in the 4th minute. Returnee Jerković was again the most alert and increased the lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute. Ivan Šantek delivered a high ball, Jerković shook off his marker and with a skillful first-time finish sent it into the net.
The third goal came at the opening of the second half. Perušić led the attack for almost 50 meters in the 47th minute, reached the goal line, crossed into the center, Vladimir Durković ran onto it and clumsily touched the ball which hit him in the chest and deflected into the net. The visitors felt that goalkeeper Dragomir Vukičević could have reacted better, but he was feeling the effects of a blow after a collision with Željko Matuš. The coach soon substituted him and Petar Ćosić took his place between the posts.
Dinamo, just four minutes after Zvezda's own goal, came close to a fourth goal when young Lamza broke through alone in front of the goalkeeper, but in attempting something spectacular he lost possession of the ball.
