With a magnificent comeback in the final half hour, Dinamo turned the match around in Osijek, recovered from a two-goal deficit and left the pitch victorious with their arms raised in celebration. The Maksimir players defeated Osijek 3-2 in a match where the hosts held a two-goal advantage until the 70th minute and a one-goal lead until the 87th minute. This was also Dinamo's debut at Osijek's newly-built stadium in Pampas, officially named Opus Arena.

Dinamo hit the post at the very start, Osijek soon took the lead in the 7th minute, later extending their advantage to two goals... But everything was turned around with a complete comeback in the closing stages.

Bruno Petković brilliantly set up Dario Špikić in the 5th minute, who fired a sharp shot, but the ball deflected off a block onto the post and out for a corner. However, two minutes later, Boško Šutalo was careless when bringing the ball out, attempting to find Dino Perić with a sideways pass in front of his own penalty area. Ramon Mierez intercepted the ball and immediately struck precisely from 17 metres into the corner for the hosts' lead.

An additional problem for the Blues was a forced substitution in the 42nd minute. Stefan Ristovski left the pitch due to injury and was replaced by Sadegh Moharrami.

In their first attack of the second half, Osijek increased their lead. Mierez found Domagoj Bukvić with a clever pass, who ran in from the right behind the Maksimir defence and slotted the ball into the near corner.

Dinamo midfielder Marko Bulat earned applause from the Osijek crowd after a fair-play gesture in the 38th minute. Dario Špikić went down the right wing, Renan Guedes stayed down, and in the continuation of play the referee awarded a free kick in a dangerous area 18 metres out. However, when taking the free kick, Bulat calmly passed the ball to the Osijek defence as a fair-play gesture because Dinamo had continued playing in the previous action while the Osijek defender was lying injured.

Dinamo got back into the game in the 70th minute when Moharrami surged down the right wing, crossed into the middle, and Mahir Emreli outjumped the defence to head the ball into the net for 2-1. It was the 87th minute when Robert Ljubičić crossed from the left, and Darko Nejašmić stopped the ball with both arms raised high on the line of his penalty area. After a VAR review, referee Mario Zebec pointed to the spot, and Petković took the penalty with a 'Panenka' that shook the net.

Deep into stoppage time, after a second and lengthy VAR review, the referee determined that Osijek centre-back Styopa Mkrtchyan had struck Perić with full force in his penalty area, which meant another penalty. Petković again stepped up to the spot and scored for the Zagreb victory.
