He lived in Zagreb's Ravnice neighbourhood, lived a bohemian lifestyle, loved company and football, while 'driving crazy' opponents with his witty dribbles, delighting the Zagreb crowd whom he charmed from the start and became their great favourite... Maksimir Stadium thundered: "Čava, Čava!". Zoran Dimitrijević, popular by his nickname Čava, our blue fantasista, passed away in Nantes, France on 13 September 2006 at the age of 45.

Born on 28 August 1962 in Belgrade, he was one of the last football romantics, a player who always tried to weave some special flair into his game – the "dry leaf", "rabona", spectacular heel passes, slaloms... He came to Maksimir Stadium in the summer of 1987, at a time when the wider football public had practically already written him off in the context of serious football. He was then playing for Spartak Subotica, a club that actually served as a kind of intermediate space for him after his career at his home club Partizan and before coming to Zagreb.

He spent a year and a half at Spartak, after which, as he himself said, he wandered around Vienna looking for an engagement. Čava was at that time, precisely because of his bohemian lifestyle, on the verge of ending his career. He himself later often emphasized how Dinamo rehabilitated him footballwise and stressed that he adored Zagreb. He was brought by the then Maksimir coach, our renowned Miroslav 'Ćiro' Blažević, and that summer also saw arrivals at Maksimir of players like Haris Škoro, Vlado Kasalo... Marko Mlinarić was also there, and Zvonimir Boban was beginning his career. Čava left Dinamo in 1989 for French club Dijon. Later he moved to Valence, then to lower-division Brive. He ended his playing career in 1993 after a traffic accident which significantly damaged his balance centre.
