Dinamo – Sloboda 2-0 (Cup final qualification in a celebratory season)

Dinamo's supporters were still hungover but euphoric from Sunday's celebrations after the Blues practically secured the championship title with their victory against Željezničar... Many of them had already completed their victory lap around the pitch even though the title wasn't yet mathematically secured. But it was clear that Dinamo were champions. They could only slip up through an unrealistically bizarre sequence of events. In such an atmosphere, three days after the victory against Željezničar, the Blues welcomed Sloboda from Tuzla in the Cup semi-final. Dinamo were chasing the double.

Coach Miroslav Ćiro Blažević had intended to take the players into quarantine after the match against "Želje" because Sloboda's team had one extra day of rest since they had played their league match on Saturday. However, the players convinced him to abandon the quarantine idea... The outcome? Dinamo repaid him by "replaying" the match against Željezničar: they beat Sloboda with the identical result and identical goalscorers. If we count the substitutions too, the same 12 players featured, they won with the same 2-0 scoreline and the same order of goalscorers – Snješko Cerin scored the first goal, and Zlatko Cico Kranjčar the second.

Already in the 2nd minute, Marko Mlinarić delivered from a free kick and Petar Brućić hit the goalkeeper. However, five minutes later the Blues took the lead. Captain Velimir Zajec delivered a free kick from the center of the pitch into the penalty area, and Cerin skillfully found the bottom corner from the scramble.

In the 64th minute, the visitors also threatened when Tuzla's excellent right winger Sead Sarajlić launched the ball into the corner from a free kick, but goalkeeper Marijan Vlak prevented the goal with a save. Already in the next action, a goal followed at the other end. Cerin initiated the counter-attack, sending the ball forward to Kranjčar who placed it into the net.

Dinamo reached the final where, in two spectacular matches, Red Star proved to be just a shade more skillful.
