With an inspired, confident and solid performance featuring dominance, game control and a touch of flair, Dinamo's players, under the expert guidance of coach Mario Kovačević, defeated Hajduk at Poljud 2-0 in the 7th round of the league. This victory will be remembered primarily for the spectacular goals scored by Arbër Hoxha and Mounsef Bakrar. This was also an exceptional boost for the Blues ahead of the European season opener when, four days later, Turkish side Fenerbahçe visited Maksimir Stadium. The Blues triumphed 3-1 in that encounter.

Both Poljud goalscorers found the net after brilliant individual actions in which they, like in American football, conquered half the pitch in an unstoppable run before launching the ball into the net with a delicate finish... Although both goals came from moments of inspiration by Hoxha and Bakrar, Dinamo's play was characterized by excellent team performance in which the Blues created chances, coming close to taking the lead twice in the first half after superb build-up play.

The Zagreb side took the lead in the 44th minute when Miha Zajc played a short pass to Hoxha, who received it in his own half, engaged turbo mode, lightning-fast burst through two defenders, conquered half the pitch, approached the center and from 17 meters, slightly to the left, skillfully struck with his right foot into the near bottom corner.

Bakrar matched this with a similar piece of brilliance in the 80th minute. He intercepted the ball on the opponent's half, right by the touchline, catapulted himself into a counter-attack completely diagonally from the right side, and in his first step upon entering the penalty area, powerfully struck towards the near post with the ball deflecting off the crossbar into the goal. It was a move worthy of applause – strength in the duel, winning the ball, unstoppable speed in the breakthrough and then a masterful strike.

The hosts came close to scoring in the 35th minute when Marko Livaja quickly played from his own half to Rokas Pukštas, who immediately extended into empty space. Abdoulie Bamba Sanyang ran into the left side, rounded goalkeeper Ivan Nevistić, aimed for the empty goal with his left foot, but didn't strike the ball well, which Bruno Goda then cleared without difficulty in the six-yard box. The assistant referee flagged Sanyang for offside, but VAR would have had to confirm this in case of a goal.

In the 64th minute, Zvonimir Šarlija made a rough challenge on Zajc near Hajduk's penalty area, but the referee judged it wasn't worthy of a yellow card and didn't even award a foul. Zajc remained on the ground and immediately left the pitch afterwards.
